Unit Description

Sodexo Schools Division is seeking an experienced Executive Chef 2 to support our food service programs within the Troy Public School District located in Troy, MI.  The selected chef will have have a direct impact on all culinary operations as he or she will be responsible for culinary training and food quality across the entire school district (19 schools). He or she will also support catering functions. Our ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual that is able to create culinary promotions to  further increase student meal purchases.

 

Specific Responsibilities will include:  

  • Menu creation 
  • Strong focus on high quality food presentation
  • All food production training, quality control, and outcomes

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
-  Manages food & physical safety programs.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree 
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
