Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 3 for the Medical University of South Carolina, a large teaching hospital located in Charleston, SC. In this lead culinary role, you will direct and participate in all of the daily food production operations for a full-service Cafe, Catering and Patient Meal Services utilizing "At Your Request" a specialty meal program. Responsibilities will include: menu planning/development, hands-on food preparation, catering, food & labor costing, inventory and purchasing, training, direct customer and client interaction. This position includes large catering volume for many high end events as well as patient services and a large retail site.

This is a full time temporary position that can last up to one year and will initially be assigned at MUSC. He or she may then be assisgned to support other health care accounts within the SouthEast. The slected canidate must be willing to travel.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a large sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution. 
Key Duties
- Implements & coordinates the culinary function. 
- Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.
- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.
- Manages catering & retail areas.
- Customer & Client satisfaction.
- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.
- Manages food & physical safety programs.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree 

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
