As an Experience/Business Architect, you care passionately about the users you are designing for, wanting to design the best solution for your audience. You have the ability to simplify complex design requirements into component parts and systematically evaluate them. Your ability to think and plan strategically while solving immediate business problems impacting our providers will play a pivotal role in understanding and shaping UnitedHealthcare’s evolving provider experience.


In this dynamic leadership role, you will work with senior business and technology leaders to articulate business problems help build business cases and guide experience and services design.


The successful candidate will have proven experience translating user and business requirements into the structural design of highly intuitive and well-crafted interfaces and digital experiences.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to create, design and drive the Experience strategy and roadmap to improve provider experience
  • Lead deep-dives into development of strategic solutions solving business and technology challenges
  • Develop personas, journey maps, sitemaps, and navigational schemes to inform the design of our digital experiences
  • Lead and facilitate UX efforts from concept to completion
  • Facilitate sessions to business and technology leaders to groom program backlog, evaluate business and technical requirements and prioritize capabilities

The complexity of this role can be challenging. You’ll be working on strategic programs with responsibility for providing architectural leadership to key initiatives across the organization. You’ll be expected to ensure that the programs align to the IT strategy, leverage enterprise components and capabilities, advance the state of our IT assets, and expand and improve on our enterprise engineering strategy.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional IT experience in a large, enterprise environment
  • 2+ years of strong experience with Human Centered Design Principles
  • 1+ years of proven ability to develop roadmaps and strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • 1+ years of technical background with understanding of digital technologies, tools, devices, portals, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (the ability to effectively sell an idea)
  • Ability to simplify and summarize complex topics for non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and lead teams without direct-reporting authority
  • Ability to move quickly in a dynamic and fast-moving environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in building in wire frames, user flows and personas, layout, color and typography, and an interest to engage with the broad variety of roles that the job will involve, and are keen to develop your skills
  • Health care industry experience
  • Proven experience with Design Thinking
  • Product Management Experience
