*Role Description*

The Field Medical / Medical Director role is a hybrid role that is responsible for providing therapeutic area/product expertise for Hemophilia and understanding patients and physicians point of view both as a Field Medical Director (FMD) and as a Medical Director. As an integral member of the US Medical Affairs team within the Rare Disease group, Director responsibilities include providing medical and clinical expertise and leadership specific to Hemophilia and the therapeutic area. He/she is a part of a working environment where colleagues always understand and exhibit customer-focused medical professionalism with honor and integrity. He/she maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the data relating to Hemophilia and the therapeutic area, including those generated from Pfizer-sponsored research as well as those in the scientific literature. As such, the Director serves as the technical expert for the product and the therapeutic area and supports communication of emerging data to ensure appropriate product utilization. The Director provides support for the development of strategies for clinical research and data generation and is accountable for ensuring that medical plans supporting the product are successfully developed to achieve short- and long-term objectives in alignment with overall business goals. He/she partners with external experts to inform business planning and clinical developmentThe Field Medical responsibilities include (a) communicating new and other important approved medical content to therapeutic area health care professionals (HCPs) in local, regional or national capacities including therapeutic area HCP decision-makers at organized customers such as Medical Groups, Integrated Delivery Networks, Payers, etc. and engage in other approved communications in accordance with approved FMD guidance; (b) providing truthful, accurate and scientifically supported information in response to direct unsolicited medical requests from HCPs in a manner that complies with all applicable Pfizer guidelines, policies, and procedures; and (c) providing therapeutic area/product expertise for regional and other Medical Affairs and/or clinical development needs as approved by FMD leadership (e.g. formulary presentations, field force training, organized customer projects/collaborations, scientific congress participation, Pfizer-sponsored research site / investigator interactions, TA/product expertise for Pfizer-sponsored NIS, IIR inquiries etc.). The FMD will interact with HCPs in the region including therapeutic area HCPs affiliated with organized customers. The FMD will respond to medical questions regarding Pfizer products for the designated therapeutic area and other Pfizer medicines as appropriate. The FMD may be involved in presentations to payers, managed care organizations, formulary decision makers and regional medical advisory boards in accordance with the designated therapeutic area medical strategy established by the FMD TL. The FMD will also facilitate communication between regional medical leaders and headquarters Medical Affairs colleagues and provide customer insights that contribute to the development of brand medical strategies as appropriate. The FMD will facilitate both Pfizer sponsored and investigator initiated research activities in their regions, as determined by the HQ Medical teams and in accordance with guidance.


Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Medical Director Responsibilities:*Support development and execution of medical strategies for phase IV research, publication planning, and advisory board implementation.*Contribute to data generation/analyses and ensures medical and scientific accuracy of manuscripts and abstracts/posters.*Provides medical support and input on labeling and regulatory interactions.*Support activities related to safety evaluations and reporting requirements.*Support/lead development of IIRs in the US. *Provide medical information on existing and emerging data in response to questions from internal and external stakeholders. *Provides medical knowledge and support for in-line Commercial Development activities including such activities as promotional message development & product training for the sales force.*Contributes to the development and presentation of operating plans.*Provides input and helps shape medical strategies and operation plansField Medical Responsibilities: *Provide approved medical content for Hemophilia and therapeutic area to HCPs who have local, regional, or national roles in health care provision and/or decision-making *Keep abreast of medical and scientific developments in the designated therapeutic area by continuously reviewing literature in the field, monitoring competitor activities, networking with experts and attending assigned conferences.*Contribute to the medical planning for brand/asset team projects and activities, and work with medical leadership to develop and implement the FMD team medical plan for Hemophilia and therapeutic area.*Maintain effective and appropriate communication and collaboration among headquarters medical colleagues, Medical Information and other Pfizer FMD colleagues. Serve as a project lead for the field team as assigned by the RD FMD leadership.*Serve on medical and/or disease area and asset cross-functional committees, as appropriate.*Serve as a conduit and resource for customer insights pertaining to Elelyso. *Serve as conduit and medical resource to therapeutic area investigators and researchers, as appropriate.


* Doctoral degree in clinical/pharmacy specialty (Ph.D., PharmD) * Significant industry and research experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical and/or health services research (preferably in the pharmaceutical industry)* Knowledge and experience in Hemophilia is preferred* Understanding of the drug development process* Knowledge of health care economics and its impact on medical decision making* Strong analytical skills* Professional demeanor & excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with external customers /internal colleagues* Customer-oriented approach and ability to work in cross-functional teams* Proven strategic thinking skills and ability to interpret and implement strategic directions * Ability to manage multiple tasks and deal effectively with deadlines* Creativity, resourcefulness, high energy and flexibility * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Networking and negotiation skills* Business acumenRELOCATION PROVIDED FOR QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
