Pfizer's Global Financial Solutions (GFS) Shared Services is a well-established operation with beginnings in Memphis, Tenn., in 1997. The GFS San Jose Shared Services Center (SSC) for the Latin America Region (LAR) will be a high performing team responsible for the timely delivery of standardized financial processes on behalf of Biopharmaceutical Finance and their business partners for the Emerging Markets. The organization performs certain Record-to-Report, Invoice-to-Pay, Travel & Entertainment, Credit-to-Cash and other related activities from regionally centralized locations in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The GFS San Jose Fixed Assets Team Leader will have responsibility for leading a team who supports the markets for fixed assets accounting. This team is responsible for the accounting of Fixed Assets for the markets supported by GFS San Jose.


+ Supervising colleagues performing Capital Finance activities for various divisions and/or markets, as well as legal entity based fixed assets reporting, maintenance and support.

+ The position will be responsible for serving as a single point of contact for all fixed assets related questions for supported legal entities; reviewing and approving required journal entries and reporting (balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly webforms); reviewing Analysis Book schedules, monthly depreciation analysis, and monthly audits of Genpact transactions.

+ This position will also manage colleagues who serve as a service delivery liaison between Fixed Assets and divisions including RDM, PGS, GO/BT, Americas Tax Center, European Markets, and Controllers/Consolidations.

+ The position will also be responsible for providing audit support and leading related projects

+ Lead team responsible for the following activities:

+ Ensure accounting transactions are in compliance with Pfizer accounting policy, US GAAP and local GAAP accounting

+ Maintain elements of domestic and/or international general ledgers including the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations

+ Prepare financial and accounting analysis completely and accurately

+ Maintain complete and accurate tasks lists and status of open items

+ Maintain complete and accurate standard operating procedures and SOX related internal control documentation

+ Research technical and operational accounting guidance and determine relevant application

+ Provide the information team needs to complete job duties and make accurate decisions; is timely with information

+ Clearly and consistently establish priorities for team and manage workload, deliverables and competing priorities

+ Consistently identify and remediate irregularities, discrepancies and risks prior to financial impacts

+ Manage and lead related audit activities, including the timely and accurate delivery of audit requests and serving as primary point of contact

+ Consistently identify process improvement opportunities and timely implements solutions

+ Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Accounting / Business Administration is required.

+ CPA / Chartered Accountant preferable

+ 6 years of experience in a Corporate Finance environment required (shared service environment preferred).

+ Public accounting experience and Shared Service experience preferred.

+ Management and supervisory experience required.


+ Proficiency in PC skills (MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint) required.

+ SAP / JD Edwards experience preferred.

+ Good organizational skills to coordinate and manage multiple priorities.

+ Proficient written and verbal skills to enable effective communication with all levels of management.

+ Ability to analytically review and challenge statutory financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy, adherence to accounting standards, etc.
