Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager I for Henrico Doctors’ Hospital Forest Campus in Henrico, VA.  This 340 bed acute care facility is part of the HCA Capital Division with hospital locations throughout Richmond, Northern and Southwest Virginia, Kentucky, New Hampshire and Indiana.


This position supports the GM and serves as the number two point of contact for oversight of Food and Nutrition Services.  Prior experience with Sodexo systems with production and retail programs desired but not required. Candidates should be familiar with Patient Meal Delivery Systems such as Sodexo's AYR (At Your Request) with experience in retail excellence and catering. The Operations Manager will be responsible for daily operations, including management of food service associates.


The successful Operations Manager will have experience and proven results in, the following areas:

                -Leadership: Ability to effectively manage and communicate with Staff, Key Personnel, Management Teams along with a passion and dedication to be “one of the best”.

                -Candidate must be highly engaged and extremely hands-on in day to day operations.

                -Training: Must be able to articulate, demonstrate and uphold operating standards and expectations for  frontline staff through hands on training, coaching and follow up.

                -Financial: Ability to manage and demonstrate proven results with food costs, labor and controllable expenses.


The ideal candidate will have:

                -2 - 3 years prior experience managing in healthcare food service

                -Remain calm and focused in a highly demanding environment

                -Understands and able to meet operating standards and expectations

                -Demonstrated experience providing strong leadership, including supervision, direction and training, to a diverse team of employees

                -Focus on food and physical safety, sanitation and customer service excellence

                -Experience managing food and labor cost controls to meet targets

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
