Sodexo’s School Division is seeking a Food Operations Manager for Rocky Hill Public Schools in Rocky Hill, CT. This position will be responsible for directing daily operations for five school sites ensuring that Sodexo, USDA and CT standards are implemented and followed and ensuring that employees have the appropriate tools, skills and training to meet goals and objectives.  Prior school service experience a plus. Responsible for purchasing food and non food supplies.  Manages budgets by controlling costs ( labor, food, equipment, materials).  Reviewing programs at each school level to ensure they meet Sodexo standards that provides a positive experience for students and staff.  Assists with planning monthly menus that meet USDA, HHFKA standards.  Maintains and develops positive client relationships and satisfaction.  ServSafe certified.


The successful candidate for the Operations Manager position will have excellent organizational, time management and computer skills. An eye for detail and a passion for customer service is a must. This position will manage the day-to-day responsibilities and operations of K-12 dining and learning experience for the best and brightest. The successful candidate will also have a high level of knowledge in Marketing, HACCP, safety, labor and food cost management.


Ideal candidate will have:

  • NSLP/NSBP - National School Lunch and Breakfast Program experience preferred
  • Prior experience as a food service operations manager
  • Experience managing a talented labor work force

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
