Sodexo at Children’s Hospital of Michigan is seeking an experienced Food Operations Manager

 

Since 1886, the Children's Hospital of Michigan has been dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to children and adolescents in a caring, efficient and family-centered environment. A proud member of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), the Children's Hospital of Michigan is the first children's hospital in the state. This 228-bed facility has an international reputation in pediatric medicine, surgery and research, training more pediatricians than any other facility in Michigan.

 

The Food Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of food service including Retail (cafeteria), At Your Request (AYR) patient meal services and catering and will work a flexible schedule that may include some evening and weekends.. 

 

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees food service operations for patient meals, retail food service plus executive dining and catering
  • Manages a team of 60 front-line employees
  • Ensures that Sodexo policies, procedures and programs are being utilized effectively and efficiently
  • Manages and controls food and labor
  • Responsible for growing relationships with key client contacts as well as collaborating and with the client and General Manager on achieving operational goals
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards at all levels

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies
 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
