Unit Description

Sodexo Universities is seeking an innovative and experienced Food Operations Manager 2 to oversee high volume Otter Express and 2 other Retail operations at California State University, Monterey Bay.  This Retail Food Manager will be directly responsible for $4.2M volume in sales for 3 branded formats. Otter Express is open 7 days a week until midnight during the school year, Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee, plus concessions.  The  Multi-Unit Operations Manager supervises a staff of 90 full time (union), part time and student employees. This mulit-unit Retail Operations Manager is a hands on manager, actively involved in the units – responsible for cost controls, inventory, labor, mentoring and training and works/coordinates with a management team of five to help run an $8 million dollar reference account in central California.

Are you the experienced food service manager we’re seeking?

 

We are looking for candidates who will manage and assist with:

  • cash handing processing and ensuring implementation of proper cash handling policies;
  • ensuring excellent guest service and managing guest service training program;
  • staffing to include managing the hiring process for supervisors, leads and team members;
  • ensuring department HACCP and safety programs for regulatory compliance;
  • managing national brand and Sodexo training programs;
  • opening and closing operations;
  • daily, weekly and monthly standard operating procedures.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 2-4 years supervisory/management experience in a high volume Food Retail environment, QSR, or contract management.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proven client relationship skills.
  • Successful customer service skills.
  • The ability to develop team members.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies
 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
