Role overview:

 

The Regional Food Services Director is responsible for directing, planning, organizing and controlling the activities of the Nutrition and Food Service Department to ensure that the nutritional needs of each resident are met, including special ethno-cultural requirements, within established budget and existing legislative parameters. There is daily interaction with other department heads and department employees, residents, families and contractors.  The Regional Food Service Director will participate in and conduct a variety of managerial activities and duties to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Home and to achieve and maintain a level of high quality resident care.

 

Qualifications

Formal Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Food Supervisor’s Program or a Bachelor’s degree program with a major in food and nutrition
  • Registered Dietitian
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) or in the Prince Edward Island Dietetic Association (PEIDA) and Dietitians of Canada

 

Technical Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years recent managerial experience with varied responsibilities for therapeutics, administration and supervision preferably in a long term care setting
  • Working knowledge of Health PEI Long Term Care standards
  • Advanced knowledge of health and safety
  • Advanced knowledge of Food Safety Standards
  • Working knowledge of employment and human rights legislation
