Unit Description

Sodexo on the campus of Ithaca College is seeking a dynamic Food Service Manager who will be responsible for front of the house service operations supporting a large Resident Dining operation, including a campus bakery. 12,000 meals are served weekly in this dining hall with a focus on lunch, dinner and late night dining (Monday-Thursday). There are three Residential Dining Halls on this campus with approximately 3,600 students on a meal plan. Ithaca's showcase dining hall features signature menu stations such as Kosher Kitchen, Simple Servings, Grab & Go and Food Lab. This position reports to the Operations Manager and will provide the overall direction of dining services at a large volume dining hall; will have oversight for a Chef Manager, a Service Manager and several Supervisors and hourly staff. Strong training, leadership skills, systems and service standards knowledge are needed for this long term client partner.


This manager will typically work a 10:30am - 8:30pm shift, but must be flexible based on changes in business needs.


The best qualified candidate will have the following:


  • High-volume, College/University, contract management food service or restaurant management experience
  • Experience training and leading a service staff
  • Experience with food and labor management systems
  • Experience with food and physical safety programs
  • Demonstrated excellence in client and customer service

Position Summary

Provides supervision for multi-functional food service areas at an account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the Company.  Contributes to account revenue and operating profit through the implementation of Sodexo programs while executing against Standard Operating Procedures.
Key Duties
- Maintains and develops client relationships and customer satisfaction for multi-functional food service areas to ensure account retention and positive public relations
- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment
- Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards
- Utilizes Sodexo resources and programs to ensure operating standards and regulatory requirements are met and employees have the necessary equipment and inventory
- Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate in order drive a high-level of employee engagement 



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
