Texas NeuroRehab Center (TNC) provides complex medical and brain injury rehab, chemical dependency treatment for adults and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applications for a Food Service Worker. The Food Service Worker is responsible for the preparation and serving of patient, staff and visitor meals and snacks according to dietary guidelines; responsible for cleanliness of work area and dish room according to dietary policies and procedures.

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Follows standardized recipes for preparation of menu items
Follows patient menus correctly when serving meals
Places food on serving line at appropriate time
Documents food and/or equipment temperatures daily
Cooks and serves under sanitary conditions
Adjusts work schedule to meet department needs
Adjusts to various work duties such as dishwashing and line serving
Maintains a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Maintains professional demeanor in dress, attitude, support of department milieu, and hospital mission and philosophy.
Contributes to improving department operations and services by making suggestions for changing or modifying departmental practices and serving on special task forces as indicated or requested.
Assists in looking for trends through review of departmental data, outcomes, and indicators.
 

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:
The following are the job requirements for the Food Service Worker..

Knowledge of quantity food preparation.
Ability to read and write in English language.
Ability to sustain physical activity; on feet eight hours per day.
Able to drive safely in order to operate a golf cart.
Able to use hands to operate food service equipment, including mixers, slicers, fryers, blenders etc.
Frequent kneeling, bending, stooping, bending and squatting.
Frequent lifting, carrying and lowering of up to 30 pounds without assistance.
Frequent lifting overhead.
Ability to read and write: must document temperatures, read recipes, labels and chemical bottles.
Emotional stability necessary to perform essential job functions, changing priorities and irregular work hours.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read and understand purpose of hazard labels on chemical containers and material safety data sheets.
Ability to see, speak, and hear so as to effectively communicate with staff, patients, and others in order to protect self and others from potentially dangerous situations and to perform essential job functions.

Education and Training
High school graduation or GED

Experience
Minimum two years’ experience in a high volume food production setting
Experience in a hospital setting preparing special diets is preferred.

Physical/General
Ability to sustain physical activity; on feet eight hours per day.

Ability to tolerate frequent weather changes (such as wind, snow , rain or sleet and extreme heat) during deliveries to units and to tolerate the differences in temperatures when entering or leaving buildings, or walk-in refrigerated storage. Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read and understand purpose of hazard labels on chemical containers and material safety data sheets.
Ability to see, speak, and hear so as to effectively communicate with staff, patients, and others in order to protect self and others from potentially dangerous situations and to perform essential job functions.
