Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
Freight Team Associates are responsible for stocking merchandise onto shelves to achieve 100% in-stock, organizing the sales floor to create a pleasant and safe shopping environment, and providing customer service as required by customer demand. In addition, some Freight Team Associates (as designated by the Operations Assistant Store Manager-ASM) operate reach trucks and order pickers to bring down merchandise safely from the overhead bays to the sales floor. A successful Freight Team Associate must have a high level of work commitment, work well with others, and be capable of learning and following procedures.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Serve Customers:
-Follow FIRST (Find, Inquire, Respond, Solve, Thank) in customer service
-Asks open-ended questions and expresses interest in projects in order to put the Customer at ease, determine Customers' level of expertise and determine Customers' needs
-Answers questions about products and services
Handle Merchandise:
-Stocks merchandise onto shelves for customer availability; requires sorting and staging of merchandise to sales floor
-Maintains aisle cleanliness and shoppability so that merchandise is accessible, customers are able to move through the aisles easily and merchandise is presented in a visually appealing manner
-Takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items to be reordered or replenished
Safety:
-Completes specified safety training courses
-Adhere to major and minor work rule policies regarding safety detailed in the Code of Conduct
-Follows all loss prevention policies and procedures
NATURE AND SCOPE
-Associates may encounter an uneven walking surface due to temporary cracks in the floor
-Associates may have exposure to dust, gas fumes emitted by power equipment, and noise
-Associates may be exposed to external weather conditions, drafts and interior temperature changes, and slippery floors
-Associates may handle merchandise, supplies, and tools with sharp edges or that contain hazardous materials
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes or odors.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Additional Environmental Job Requirements:
Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving merchandise
Responding to public address system announcements, including customer services calls, pages, and general information
Moving around the store and be able to assist customers
Climbing ladders up to the height of 12-16 feet to obtain or stock merchandise
Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 0 years
Physical Requirements:
Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Additional Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
1+ yr customer service experience
1+ year retail, outside sales or trade experience
