Job Description

The Pride Institute is the nation’s first and leading provider of residential and outpatient treatment programs exclusively treating substance abuse and mental health needs of the LGBTQ+ community.  With a 42 bed Residential Treatment Center (RTC) facility in Eden Prairie and an eight bed lodging home within a mile, and also an Intensive Out-Patient (IOP) program office in the Uptown area of Minneapolis, we have been providing our clients a comfortable, safe alternative to traditional treatment programs for over 30 years. 

We are currently recruiting for a full-time (.8 FTE) daytime Housekeeper/ Porter to work Monday - Friday, 6-7 hours per day AND a part-time daytime Housekeeper for Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours per day.  The weekend Housekeeper will split one weekend day between the RTC and the lodging home, and the other weekend day between the RTC and the IOP.

Our Housekeepers maintain the cleanliness, safety and comfort of all Pride Institute furnishings and facility areas. In collaboration with our Maintenance department, our Housekeepers perform a variety of environmental services duties to maintain our facilities in a clean, sanitary, safe, comfortable, and orderly condition for clients, staff, and visitors.  They identify maintenance needs (lighting, repair needs) while completing regularly assigned duties and notify maintenance.  Our Housekeepers assure a healthy and safe environment through routine and deep cleaning of all furnishings and facility areas including client rooms, bathrooms, group rooms, common areas, hallways, and administrative office areas. Responsibilities include dusting furniture, mopping and sweeping floors, cleaning windows, etc. Our Housekeepers also collect and dispose of all facility trash, and coordinate removal of all hazardous and/or oversized waste.  Our Housekeepers promote sanitary conditions by following appropriate infection control and safety procedures which prevent the spread of infections and odors.

Job Requirements

Qualified Candidates will have:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, accreditation standards, or governmental regulations as they apply to maintaining a clean environment. Also need the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff, clients, and the general public.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and disinfection processes and techniques.
  • Ability to use equipment such as vacuum cleaner, steamer, carpet extractor, etc.
  • Knowledge of waste disposal and recycling procedures.
  • Knowledge of safe and appropriate Hazardous/Chemical Material Handling Procedures.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions and Safety and Infection Control in Housekeeping Services.
  • Valid MN Driver’s License

Additional Requirements:  We prefer one year experience working in a health care facility housekeeping or maintenance department.   Must be able to operate equipment used in the housekeeping department.  Must have knowledge of cleaning chemicals and the importance of safeguarding hazardous chemicals.  Must have knowledge of Deep Cleaning procedures (base boards, vents, walls, furniture) in a health care environment.

Must be able to pass our Background Screening process (to include DHS NETStudy2) and Pre-employment Drug Test.
