Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
This position works in tangent with the Senior Payroll Garnishment Analyst to ensure the accurate and timely processing of garnishment orders for the company in accordance with laws and statutes that govern the wage orders including research, analysis, reconciliations, and auditing of reports.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 50%-Respond to routine inquiries from employees, attorneys, courts, federal and state agencies, and other third party agencies regarding garnishment orders. Reviews and resolves complex garnishment issues. Works with Legal on negotiating escalated show cause and defaults. Advise on complex questions/requests from customers 
  • Interacts with internal payroll personnel and other internal departments, as applicable, to answer questions and resolve issues. Review, file and maintain vendor payroll reports related to Garnishments. Work closely with Sr Garnishment Analyst to resolve any escalations, discrepancies, or anomalies .
  • 30%-Work with Sr Garnishment Analyst and internal support teams to research and resolve issues and timely implementation of changes. Research state and federal laws and guidelines to ensure compliance. Participate in special projects/initiatives relating to regulatory changes, process improvement and/or cost reduction. 
  • Project involvement may include testing process and system changes. Communicate with team members regarding task or project status and opportunities to improve service levels or processes. Participate in activities with internal business partners to ensure garnishment tables in system reflect current and accurate information. 
  • 20%-Backup to Sr Garnishment Analyst for processing lump sum payments in accordance with internal company standard operating procedure and regulatory compliance requirements. Work with internal business partners and vendor to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of garnishment accounts.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multistate Child Support, Creditor, and Tax Levy Garnishment experience 
  • Multistatepayroll knowledge 
  • Strong understanding of the laws and statutes that govern wage orders 
  • Ability to understand and interpret legal verbiage 
  • Familiarity with Tesseract Payroll/HR System 
  • Canadian garnishment experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
