Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE

Lead the merchandising strategy for the Global Custom Commerce portfolio of custom products, including those sold through GCC’s platform on The Home Depot website. Execute on this strategy by leading the following GCC teams:

  • Merchandising associates who analyze, recommend new products and updates, and train.
  • Visual merchandising associates who build and maintain products online, including maintaining the homedepot.com product catalog as directed by each respective MVP at the Home Depot.
  • Supply chain associates who source products and manage COGS and supplier performance.


You will report directly to the GCC Chief Executive Officer and be a key, strategic member of the Senior Leadership Team.
For each product category, you will also assist and have a dotted line relationship with each respective THD
Merchandising VP.

Initially, the preponderance of your effort will be to drive overall window coverings business of all THD properties, including Blinds.com.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

20%  Review/compare supplier offerings and capabilities to design ideal private label product assortments for each GCC property, including the creation of exclusive colors, patterns and other product attributes, often working with secondary suppliers.
20%  Conduct regular analysis of the product lines, looking at multiple KPIs including mix trends, margin, selling prices, and order value.
20%  Analyze and compare cost proposals using weighted averages based on sales by size, to ensure competitive cost advantages, which may also include promotion support, rebates, service levels, and terms.
15%  Supervise the confirmation and documentation of information for all product launches, including predefined brand and GCC programs.
10%  Participate in wider company initiatives and support projects that are led by other individuals and departments.

NATURE AND SCOPE

This position reports to the CEO of Global Custom Commerce.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
 

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or
equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 10 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

• Experience in senior management, running a portfolio of business in excess of $100MM.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams.
• Proven experience in product development/design, product marketing, merchandising execution, visual presentation, inventory management, product costing, channel management, and supplier management.
• Proven experience in multichannel retailing, including online, direct to consumer
and services (DIFM); brick and mortar a plus.
• Advanced analytical skills and understanding of merchandising/general business KPIs.
• Understanding of interior design, fashion and industry trends, and the target customers.
• Proven ability to manage large scale projects in a complex environment.
• Proven proficiency in the online retail environment.
• Advanced understanding of internal and environmental sales drivers
• Merchandising and retail planning expertise
• Strong analytical skills
• Expert communication and negotiation skills
• Project execution skills. Ability to negotiate pricing terms, coop and rebate, etc.
• Ability and willingness to work in a highly crossfunctional environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
• Window coverings experience a plus, but not required.
