Sodexo's universities segment has an opportunity for a General Manager 3 for our long tenured contract at Concordia University.  Concordia University Ann Arbor is a private liberal arts university in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Its 187-acre campus sits on the banks of the Huron River, about ten minutes outside downtown Ann Arbor.


Food operations on this smaller campus serves a population of over 1,000 students with offering resident dining, retail and catering80% of students population on campus are athletes.  Your responsibilities will include oversight of front of the house operations. The ability to effectively manage multiple priorities is a must!  Food costing, catering experience, excellent client relations and team building skills are keys to success! Along with the skill set to effectively implement all budget controls at the unit level will be a plus.  As our new General Manager, you will be overseeing a skilled Executive Chef, creative Catering Manager and up to 25 customer focused hourly associates in a union environment.


Reporting to the District Manager, the ideal GM candidate will have:


  • Prior campus/university food service management experience;
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team in the day to day food operations to ensure quality production and exceptional delivery of service;
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to interact with customers, clients and all levels of management;
  • Ability to successfully implement Sodexo programs, policies, and procedures while managing a diverse team of union employees;  Union experience a plus!
  • Strong financial acumen to ensure cost effective operations to include labor management, food costs, and inventory control, operating a P&L account.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account
Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.
