Sodexo currently has a job opportunity for a General Manager 4, of Food Services to join our Senior Living team at The Terraces of Los Altos , in Los Gatos, California. This is a brand new 120 resident re-develop active adult community, with a focus on a 5 Star Dining Experience. The General Manager 3 of Food Services will report directly to the District Manager, and will be responsible for day to day oversight of Food Service operations for this luxurious Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) Senior Living account. They will develop Client and Resident Relations and interact daily with the Residents and Clients while providing exceptional service


General Manager Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees all day to day food and nutrition services operations for this CCRC Senior Living food services account with five dining rooms and one food service bistro.
  • Manages around 36 employees (including management level employees) and around $2 million in volume on an annual basis.
  • Oversight of the food service operations that provide 800-1000 meals per day to support the 4 dining rooms and retail food service bistro location.
  • Integrate fully within our client's organization becoming a trusted advisor with a customer service focus. This is role will interact with the client’s Director level leadership.
  • Works closely with Sodexo management team at this account to provide leadership, direction and to manage projects.
  • Works to achieve company and client financial targets and goals.
  • Works to ensure that Sodexo food service programs are optimally running.
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards.
  • Meets (or exceeding) Sodexo standards of operations.
  • Creates a positive environment and successfully motivates and manages team.

If you have the following qualification, we want to hear from you!

  • Successful work history in the area of executive/fine dining and ability to drive innovation in the food service environment.
  • Ability to lead and engage employees in a team oriented environment. Previous fine dining or Senior Living experience is desired.
  • Previous management experience in a customer service driven environment.
  • Previous management experience in a Green House home living resident care environment is desirable.
  • Ability to lead, develop and engage a large number of employees.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment while fostering strong client and customer relationships.
  • Excellent computer skills and report management experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to demonstrate detailed operational analysis.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A passion for a high level customer service and relationship oriented.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory and labor management concepts.
  • Experience and knowledge in managing food and labor cost within the department.
  • Able to manage and execute multiple priorities, and manage multiple long-standing projects.
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable in compliance to food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards.
  • The ability to speak Spanish would be helpful in managing the workforce at this account.
  • Strong knowledge of working with and leading clinical nutrition, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a similar B.S. degree or Registered Dietitians or Certified Dietary Managers certificate.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account
Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.
