The Director of Global Media Relations is responsible for providing media relations counsel, strategy and action on key issues facing the company to senior business leaders. This position will work closely with the Legal Department, Compliance Division, Business Units, and Communication leads and reports to the Sr. Director, Global Media Relations.


He/she will develop and manage implementation of an integrated, long-term media relations strategy that will:

Position Pfizer in top-tier international media as a leading global healthcare organization. Manage corporate reputation and image in the press for all topics within responsibility/area including partnering with digital communications for all corporate initiatives. Develop strategic communications initiatives to further Pfizer's reputation as a leading global healthcare organization. Provide strategic communications counsel and support to Pfizer senior management teams, particularly in legal, corporate affairs and compliance divisions. Lead media relations for complex legal and compliance challenges. Influence the operating environment by gaining coverage for Pfizer/industry perspectives on for all topics within responsibility/area. Lead crisis and issues management on corporate topics Work effectively in cross-functional teams to advance communications strategy, managing organizational interactions with external media. Act as primary media spokesperson for all topics within responsibility/area.


A Bachelor's Degree and ten plus years of client-side and/or agency-side experience in Corporate Communications, including preferably some biopharma/biotech experience. A strong business background, as well as excellent managerial skills-preferably within a multinational organization-are essential. Solid top-tier media relationships are critical for success. Also necessary is solid experience in dealing with significant issues management.

A strong, demonstrated record of developing cooperative relations is critical. Candidates must be able to demonstrate success in working with all levels of senior corporate management. A strong, demonstrated record of achieving superior business results required. This position requires a person with a life history of pegging his/her personal goals beyond what is simply required. Day-to-day direction, by the nature of the business, must be self-initiated. A strong, demonstrated record of influencing others, both internally and externally, across all levels of the organization is critical. Excellent presentation skills and persuasiveness are mandatory. A strong, demonstrated record of assuming ownership of results is also required. Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills necessary. Ability to manage pressure, meet deadlines and monitor and evaluate results is essential.
