Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Global Operations Manager acts as a support function to Merchant Product Development through partnership with brand/marketing, merchandising, sourcing offices and suppliers on all related components that are necessary to drive the execution of global sourcing strategy related to specific merchandising category. Responsible for vendor and product onboarding along with maintaining core programs by working with cross-functional business partners throughout the organization including Visual Merchandising, Merchandising, Logistics, Brand & Marketing, Inventory Planning, Suppliers, and Home Depot's overseas sourcing offices. Key focus on providing accurate and timely communication to ensure that global sourcing programs are implemented within the specified timeline, budget, and quality standards.  The Manager uses independent thinking and judgment to analyze complex situations involving cross-functional partners and global sourcing office, determines solutions and course of action necessary to resolve issues, including supply issues and transitions to new products. Must make timely decisions and provide recommendations on matters related to the successful implementation of global sourcing programs.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • 65% Onboarding of new suppliers and/or new products, including supplier training of the onboarding process/requirements. Ensures delivery of critical input materials such as die-lines, intake sheets. Ensures vendor setup. Tracks and reports progress toward goals, proactively resolves issues to avoid delays, escalates as required. 
  • 15% Partners with Sourcing Office, Suppliers, Inventory Planning and Logistics to gather requirements for supply chain activities. Researching and implementing purchase order requirements. 
  • 15% Provides proforma analysis and reporting on new and existing products and programs. 
  • 5% Provides and coordinates with Customer Care on after-market product support related to private brands.

Position reports to Merchant Product Development
No direct reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
5 years

Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in the merchandising department and/or class; excellent knowledge of not only the merchandising department(s), but how it fits into an overall Merchandising strategy
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • Business acumen; project and process management skills 
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and able to communicate globally 
  • Knowledge in the merchandising department and/or class; knowledge of not only the merchandising department(s), but how it fits into an overall Merchandising strategy 
  • Ability to navigate across a matrixed organization to coordinate the activities of multiple functions 
  • Ability to lead and manage indirect groups of associates 
  • Excellent problem solving ability
