Description:

This role will support the development, implementation, and management of optimal sourcing strategies for PepsiCo's Flexible Packaging, as well as lead the Shrink Film and Label category. This category includes multiple packaging platforms (roll fed, cut and stack, shrink sleeves, pressure sensitive, printed and clear PE shrink films, etc.), used across all Business Units. Business objectives will focus on year over year productivity, innovation, commercialization, improved quality and service, and external supplier development. This role is responsible for an annual spend in excess of $120MM, partnering with multiple suppliers, and working with 500+ SKUs delivered to over 50 manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Category Director in the development of sourcing strategies which deliver long-term, sustainable, lowest total system cost
  • Drive flawless execution of the Flexible Packaging strategies and initiatives by supplying technical expertise and clear communication between internal business customers (marketing, operations, supply chain) and the vendor base
  • Support the packaging and marketing development efforts within supported divisions. Work with R&D and Marketing Management to understand business needs and establish developmental priorities within the supplier base
  • Maintain a current understanding of packaging technologies within the PepsiCo plants and co-packers, as well as technology developments within the packaging production industry. Ensure strategies incorporate those developments to optimize overall system cost and efficiency
  • Develop annual quantity, delivery and service targets with packaging suppliers and leverage scorecards to measure performance and direct continuous improvement
  • Ensure supply of quality packaging materials to plants and co-packers utilizing best practice supply chain processes, as well as strong forecasts, inventory management, on-time deliveries, and minimized obsolescence.


Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, Packaging R&D, Operations or Finance; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of procurement experience in consumer products packaging (i.e. analytics, develop buying strategies and tactical implementation)
  • Solid understanding of supply chain mechanics, forecasting and costing (including good understanding of financial analysis and cost modeling)
  • Strong organizational, execution and negotiating skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a matrixed open environment; comfortable and effective in influencing at all levels; ability to tactfully give/receive constructive feedback
  • Strong communication skills both written and spoken
  • Capability to build a strong network and relationships with cross functional teams (Supply Chain, Plant Operations, Finance, R&D, Marketing) within all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to grasp operations economics & cost drivers
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
