Description:

The PepsiCo Foods Supplier Scout will serve as a GP resource, supporting our growing innovation pipeline across the world. This role will develop cost efficient, first of its kind, supply solutions for rare and hard-to-find ingredients that support our GSG and GNG innovation pipelines. The role will need to ensure PepsiCo volumes, quality, specifications and delivery timelines can be met to protect product launch targets. Many of these new offerings include ingredients that are not core to historical norm, and require development of new suppliers and creating new supply chains. Anticipated value of ingredients scouted is $30-50MM annually, but may grow rapidly over the course of the next several years.

  • Within PepsiCo: GP core ingredient buyers & BU leadership (aligning on strategy), R&D, Co-pack manufactures (design of supply chain), Supply Chain, Operations & Finance
  • Outside PepsiCo: Suppliers of organic, premium and rare ingredients:


Key Challenges/Unique Aspects of the Position:

  • Development of new and unique agro supply chains.
  • Creation of supplier base and supply relationships to enable procurement of organic, non-GMO and/or other rare and premium ingredients.
  • Work to reduce cost while expanding supply to enable platform growth.
  • Partnering with Product Innovation and R&D teams and develop sound business plans for new product launches.


Accountabilities:

  • Gain knowledge of current ingredients and suppliers across all foods business units
  • Develop supplier contacts to effectively identify sources of new ingredients sought by marketing and/or R&D teams for innovation products.
  • Identify opportunities to source unique or innovative ingredients that are similar to marketing and/or R&D requests, but which can be delivered at lower cost, higher volumes or faster timelines.
  • Conduct a vetting process for potential suppliers to ensure that PepsiCo is sourcing from counterparties that can meet requirements for product quality, financial stability and risk mitigation.
  • Work with SQA team to qualify supplier sites for food safety requirements.
  • Facilitate conversations between R&D and suppliers to ensure optimal specifications are developed and delivered which minimize cost while providing the best possible consumer experience to support top-line growth.
  • Coordinate with commercialization managers (as applicable) and core category buyers to ensure that suppliers can seamlessly transition to launch and scale up supply relationships as products develop and mature.
  • Keep procurement team and leadership informed of GSG and GNG innovation pipelines to ensure that all relevant procurement concerns are addressed in a timely manner and do not impact innovation launch targets.
  • Develop strategies to drive advantaged sourcing of innovation ingredients, including assurance of supply, world class quality, best-in-class costs and competitive positioning.
  • Develop, align with internal constituents, and execute short- and long-term premium and/or organic supplier development strategy.


Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree (minimum): in Accounting, Business, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain or other business field
  • At least 5+ years' experience: in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, or other related field
  • Dealing with Ambiguity: can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty; can effectively cope with change
