The Opportunity

Global Solutions Engineering team (GSE) is a Systems Engineering Services team within SPVSS dedicated to, and responsible for, the deployment and integration of large, complex, cutting edge projects to digital TV Service Providers within EMEAR and beyond.

This encompasses the entire project lifecycle from analysing the customer requirements, integrating and testing new software components, delivery and integration into customer environments and handover of the system for ongoing support to both customer and Cisco operational services teams.

The role involves close collaboration with the customer as well as with many Cisco entities including the Cisco Product Development teams, Technical Sales, Operations and Architecture teams. We enable our customers' success in the ‘Cloud Video Era'. We solve our key customers' most important business challenges by leveraging an Open, Modular, Cloud Software Platform while driving profitability, efficiency and a sharpened portfolio.

The Team:

You will be delivering advanced solutions to leading digital TV service providers. You will be working within a delivery engineering team that is passionate about transforming the TV experience and building our video products for the future.

What you will be doing:

In this exciting and challenging role you will;
* Integrate, test and deliver to our customer's new software releases and components into new and existing systems ensuring these are fit for purpose.
* Executing software and platform testing, ensuring entry and exit criteria are met using suitable testing methods.
* Replicate and solve post deployment issues and assist developers to provide solutions.
* Provide input to system requirements to shape the customer requirements and ensure they are met or improved on from both a functional and operational perspective.
* Generate high quality documentation including ATPs, Test Reports and Release Documentation.
* Closely collaborate with the customer to give excellent service and support of technical issues.
* Overseas travel may be required.

What we are looking for:
* You have recently graduated or due to graduate from a relevant degree such as; Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, Data Science or similar.
* Flexible, self-motivated and well organized.
* Practical hands-on engineer.
* A logical and methodical approach to solving complex technical problems
* Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multi-cultural International environment.
* Good team player.
* Willing to travel and spend extended periods on site during installation and integration - often at short notice.
* Must be able to pick up ideas quickly, and be able to see things through to completion with a minimum of supervision.
* A good level of technical knowledge of Linux.
* Knowledge of digital video technologies, encoding and broadcast.
* Database Administration (Oracle, SQL, Mongo).
* Strong scripting capabilities (Unix, Python, Salt etc.).
* TCP IP Networking skills.
* Knowledge and experience in Cloud and virtualisation technologies such as OpenStack and VMware.
* Knowledge of orchestration and deployment tools such as Puppet, Chef, CI/CD tools, Git, Docker.
