Description:

Prudential’s Office of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) oversees impact investments, philanthropy, corporate contributions and employee engagement for the company. Through the work of the department and the volunteer efforts of our employees, we are helping people around the world solve difficult, societal problems with enduring solutions. CSR has five long-term strategic objectives, and integral to implementing its strategy is operations. CSR Operations manages reporting and transaction processing for an impact investment portfolio growing to $1 billion, and $40 million in annual grants and $24 million in annual corporate contributions.

As a Grants Manager, you will play an integral part of the CSR Operations team by providing financial, grant making and operational support for Corporate Giving, including The Prudential Foundation (Foundation).  You will lead and manage all components of grants processing and support the general administration of the Foundation.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Grants Manager will:

  • Manage all components of grants processing from applications, payments and grant close out so activities are smoothly operating; maintain and improve practices that support the grants management function

  • Conduct compliance review, interacting with relationship managers and grantee partners, to ensure that all supporting documentation is accurate, adequate, and consistent with IRS regulations and Foundation policies; oversee internal and external Foundation audits and other assessments

  • Oversee standard terms and conditions for grant award letters, agreements, modifications, contracts and all other Foundation correspondence

  • Maintain Foundation budgets, conduct financial record keeping and analysis; serve as the primary liaison with Prudential Comptrollers

  • Prepare docket materials for regular grant review meetings and oversee grant approval process

  • Generate reports and analyze data for the Oversight Committee board book, company surveys and other reporting needs; support impact measurement reporting, analysis and dashboard creation

  • Support the training and professional development of staff in compliance, internal grant process and technology for efficient use of resources; serve as a thought partner to the team by consulting with legal, tax and compliance

  • Maintain grants management software to assure integrity of grant performance and financial data; participate in technology enhancements

  • Support corporate contributions operations as required

  • Undertake special projects as assigned or initiated


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a grants management or related role

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; In lieu of degree, 10 years of relevant experience

  • Experience using sophisticated grants management software is required; high level proficiency of MicroEdge GIFTS & IGAM a plus

  • Strong project management skills with a drive towards results

  • Ability to recommend and implement process improvements

  • Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work on multiple deliverables

  • Ability to work independently, collaborate across teams and accept feedback from all levels of the organization

  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills, particularly with financial data and budgets

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
