Prudential Group Insurance underwriting division is looking for an experienced Group Life & Disability Underwriter in our Premier Account market segment supporting employer groups of 100-5,000 employees. The person in this position will be primarily accountable for underwriting Group Life & Disability proposals, renewals and on-going case activity in accordance with statutory regulations and existing underwriting policies and practices, analyzing cases and making and communicating decisions in a manner which contributes to the profitability of the product and reputation of the company. The person in this role is expected to solve a range of straight forward problems while acquiring higher level knowledge and skills to handle more advanced problem solving skills to address risk and service related issues.
Main Job Responsibilities/Competencies:
Assesses, calculates and specifies the conditions under which Prudential is willing to accept risk on group life and disability business for prospective and inforce customers. This includes, but is not limited to, the review and analysis of risk criteria, demographic data, financial data, rating formulas, case specific experience, product filings and statutory requirements for increasingly complex cases.
Communicates and partners with sales representatives, account managers, brokers, customers and prospective customers regarding case issues, underwriting assessments, pricing and rating with a customer focus.
Actively engages in supporting the positive consultative outcomes crucial to our long term success by enhanced application of growing underwriting and business expertise.
More independently handles complex inquiries in their interaction with Billing, Claims and other functional areas.
Works independently with a moderate level of guidance and supervision.
May participate in special projects or provide one-on-one training for less experienced underwriters.

- Group Life and/or Disability Underwriting experience, preferably 3 years, or equivalent through related work experience.
