As a leader in the development of award-winning communications and network processing silicon/ASICs, the Cisco Silicon Engineering team is developing next-generation industry-leading designs. Through our collaboration, members of our team play a major role in the process of defining, developing and bringing new products to market across Cisco's product line.

What You'll Do:

As a member of the design and implementation team, you will participate in ASIC design and implementation activities, drive methodologies and "best known methods" to streamline work, drive execution, and track progress.

Who You'll Work With:

* Work with Architecture and Front End team to understand chip architecture and drive design and implementation aspects early in the design cycle.

* Responsible for documentation, design, synthesis, timing closure through physical synthesis tools and working with ASIC vendors.

* Responsible for collaborating with design verification team to ensure thorough testing of design.

* Responsible for initial floor planning, handing off your floorplans and physical synthesis results to ASIC vendor for final closure, enabling them to move forwards with proven floorplans.

* Resolve design and flow issues, identify potential solutions and drive execution.

Who You Are:

* Education:BSEE/MSEE or Computer Science required

* The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of hands on experience in ASIC design and large chip integration with a positive can do attitude as we are not tackling trivial problems.

* Should be familiar with all aspects of ASIC design and integration including: Specification, RTL, Floorplanning, Clock and Power distribution, global signal planning, I/O planning and IP integration.

* Familiar with hierarchical design approach, top-down design, budgeting, timing and physical convergence.

* A detailed understanding of database management issues will be required.

Desired Skills
* From a CAD tool perspective, experience with RTL entry and simulation, floorplanning tools (e.g. Cadence First Encounter), P&R flows (Cadence FE/EDI, Synopsys ICC, Magma), timing verification (Primetime/PTPX).

* Familiar with various process related design issues including Design for Yield and Manufacturability, multi Vt strategies and power/ thermal management, power islands.

* Experience with large designs (>50M gates) utilizing state of the art sub 45nm technologies.
