Position Description:
At The Home Depot QuoteCenter, we get UX; UX is baked into our DNA. Now we're expanding our team to drive new initiatives. As a leader on the UX team, you will work with other strategists, designers, researchers to help craft end-to-end user experiences across HDQC s external products and internal services.
You are a seasoned UX researcher with multiple tools in your kit. Whether generative or evaluative, you identify and execute on the right protocol for the project. You recognize the value of well-crafted research initiatives along with the value of imagination & play in building great products within a business environment. You can describe your work to highly analytical-thinking engineers and analysts as well as synthetic, right-brain thinking designers.
In addition to your mastery of research protocols, you have a variety of techniques for analyzing raw data. Your analysis is grounded in the social sciences and industry-leading best practices, though you understand that your research informs UX design by helping guide its direction throughout your process. Research is not an end unto itself. You might not consider yourself a “designer,” but you demonstrate skill in synthetic thinking, sketching and you have a “designer s eye.”
You appreciate help from fellow design travelers or engineers, analysts, or project managers. You enjoy collaborative effort, taking feedback & input to your research proposals as a means of improving the end result. You are as comfortable influencing business leadership as you are product leadership and individual contributors. You work closely with the UX Architect to support the UX Vision process. You demonstrate leadership by coaching and mentoring others, through your modeling of exceptional experiment design. As Lead UX Researcher, you have the opportunity to build a world-class UX research organization, from initial setup in the short-term to longer term nurturing and curation within a dynamic and growing business.

10%- Delivery - Communicate your insights in ways that minimize the need for curation.

This position reports to the UX Manager.
This position has no direct reports.

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with a broad range of products and services: B2B, B2C, consumer and industrial
Master's degree in Human Computer Interaction or Applied Psychology, with 8+ years experience in UX research (Web, Enterprise, Application UI, Mobile, Games, Information Visualization) or BA in Design or Interactive Design (IxD) or Social Sciences with 10+ years experience.
Ability to communicate (verbally and graphically), ideas, decisions and reasoning with clarity, confidence, and passion. 
Demonstrated experience with multiple research methods, both evaluative and generative
Knowledge and experience with UCD, Goal Directed Design or other experience design methods 
Portfolio illustrating a range of research methods, diversity of projects, and value-driven approaches
Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize tasks for each
Solid business acumen

Education Required:
Bachelors Degree

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 8 years

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
Research within an Enterprise environment
Experience with enterprise platform/cloud solutions
Comfortable & knowledgeable with Agile development process
10+ years experience UX research
5+ years' of experience in complex multi-discipline team environment
Familiarity with UX prototyping tools
Demonstrated ability to initiate and self-manage complex projects.
Desire to thrive in a fast-moving, highly competitive environment.
Recognized thought-leader in the UX field through publications, talks, and engagements
