Position Description:

Position Purpose:

QuoteCenter is an application Home Depot store associates use to build a wide range of orders from large, complex orders to small drop-in orders for products across The Home Depot’s supply chain.

The Manager, Merchandising Strategy team and owns and leads discrete strategic projects. In addition, the Manager, Merchandising Strategy is a thought partner helping to set the agenda for the business unit as a whole. Collectively the team is responsible for developing overall strategy, helping to prioritize initiatives, working on business development opportunities and monitoring performance relative to competitors. In addition to the annual strategic planning process, examples of typical projects include: scan of major technology trends likely to impact the Operations department; catalog, pricing, and supply chain.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities:

70%- Strategic projects: analyze business problems, structure the issue and prioritizes analyses, synthesize data to develop a solution, create documents communicating solutions using structured communication principles, present solutions to the team and stakeholders, work with stakeholders to implement solutions. 

20%- Planning process: lead one or more workstreams in the strategic and operational planning cycle. 

10%- Competitive and market intelligence: develop expertise and become the go-to expert on key competitors and market trends; own regular reporting on one or more data sources.


Nature and Scope:

This position reports to the Director of Operations. 
This position has 10 direct reports.


Environmental Job Requirements:

Environment:1. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:1. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.



Standard Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must pass Background Check.
Must pass pre-employment test if applicable.

 Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

Work Experience Required: 7

Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

 Preferred Qualifications:

1 - 2 years work experience with a top tier strategy consulting firm, an investment bank or in as similar environment  
MBA / Masters degree  
Previous retail / ecommerce experience  
Broad exposure to Tech-Media-Telecom sector  
Strong skills in quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis and strategic problem solving  
Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership  
Ability to lead and manage cross-functionally; potential to develop into a leader in the business 

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Excellent communicator in both verbal and written form. 
Polished presentation skills, creating materials and presenting to various levels of management. 
Big picture thinker able to operate effectively at 30,000 foot view, but also able to get into the details when necessary. 
Strong story teller, is able to formulate cohesive messages with meaningful and impactful points that resonate with target audience. 
Self-starter, requires little to no direction to be effective at role.
