Description **ROLE SUMMARY**

This position is for a Head of CTI Partnerships to lead strategic relationships with academia and patient Foundations for Pfizer's Centers for Therapeutic Innovation (CTI). As a primary 'face' of CTI to our academic and patient Foundation partners, the candidate plays a key role in the establishment and maintenance of CTI's relationships, building upon existing relationships and creating new relationships to secure a competitive advantage for Pfizer, thus supporting the scientific goals of Pfizer's Worldwide R&D (WRD) organization.

The successful candidate has extensive experience managing industry-academic alliances and has a proven track record of driving effective and successful partnering between internal and external business, legal and scientific teams. He/she has excellent relationship building and influencing skills with a wide range of stakeholders from bench scientists to executive level decision makers. The candidate must be a confident, respectful and energetic self-starter who is able to multitask, work across global sites and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

The candidate will also be expected to fully embrace and embody the entrepreneurial spirit and biotech-like culture, values and goals of CTI and contribute to creating an exciting, productive and scientifically rigorous working environment.


The Head of CTI Partnerships will be responsible for:

+ Working with the Head, CTI Operations & Portfolio Management and other members of the External Science & Innovation (ES&I) Leadership Team to provide thought leadership and revitalize CTI's partnering strategy

+ Working alongside the CTI Alliance Manager to serve as a primary point of contact for existing CTI partners to ensure pipeline continuity

+ Leading CTI's Calls for Proposals aligned with WRD strategic focus areas, working with ES&I Academic Leads to set Call topics and manage the review processes

+ Working with other ES&I stakeholders, lead the establishment of strategic outreach and engagement plans to ensure optimal management of existing partnerships and to proactively identify beneficial new partnerships

+ Ensuring ES&I understands and develops its competitive positioning amongst CTI's academic partners so as to be able to access emerging science and key resources to deliver innovative new projects in a highly competitive environment

+ Supporting the design, implementation and management of a comprehensive communication plan to ensure diverse internal and external stakeholders are well informed of CTI's activities and capabilities, helping CTI and thus ES&I compete effectively amongst its peers

+ Adopting a 'partner of choice' mentality whilst using a deep knowledge of the CTI Participation Agreement to develop solutions to highly complex problems and thus ensure effective management of issues arising on an individual project basis



+ MSc or equivalent in related healthcare field

+ 15+ years experience in the 'business of science', of which at least 10 years has been spent developing value-creating partnerships in the life sciences, specifically leading the negotiation, establishment and management of industry-academic alliances and advising on alliance strategy to senior business leaders

+ Outstanding relationship building and influencing skills

+ Resourceful, innovative thinker comfortable with ambiguity

+ Demonstrated creative problem solving skills

+ Experience managing teams of diverse and experienced colleagues


+ PhD, MBA, JD, PharmD or equivalent

+ In depth understanding of Pfizer's alliance activities, processes and practices


+ Academic Medical Center business offices
