*Role Description*

The Head of Digital Collaborations is a leadership role with a major focus on entrepreneurial approaches to engage external partners to secure resources to conduct Digital Innovation projects, evaluate new technologies and emerging digital science, and align those opportunities with delivering operational excellence within the Pfizer Innovation Research Lab. The Pfizer Innovation Research Laboratory (PfIRe Lab) will develop a structured approach delivering innovative solutions to solve key business problems using the focus of dynamical measurements of clinical, human factors and knowledge process providing solutions across the Pfizer therapeutic pipeline. The PfIRe Laboratory focuses on delivering digital measures and therapeutics, identifying and developing advanced-STEM platforms and integrating external collaborators, regulators and internal enterprise-wide colleagues to support the digital therapeutic pipeline. The Head of Digital Collaborations must be able to effectively engage partners from non-profit foundations, technology companies, venture capital, government agencies, academic partnerships or other Pfizer units. This critical role will ensure alignment between external relationships and capabilities with the Pfizer Innovation Research Lab strategy and portfolio of research projects. The Head of Digital Collaborations will also lead one to two Digital Innovation Projects, serving as Research Portfolio Lead, managing a team of clinicians, engineers and data scientists to advance a research project from the definition of user specifications, to prototyping, validation, industrialization and deployment.The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of the pFIRe Lab and leadership of Digital Innovation Projects and Advanced Science Lab to set strategy and execute tactical operations at the enterprise level. A capacity and ability to influence and advance new partnerships internally within the Pfizer organization and the external environment must exist from day one. Influencing and coordination with leadership across the Pfizer organization including all scientific RUs and partner lines and the Business Development and External Research and Innovation organizations is essential.A critical capability of this scientist leader is the ability to interact with and represent Pfizer to the local Boston-Cambridge medical-academic and technical community and with the national and international industrial and academic communities.This individual is a critical industrial scientific leader who can look into the future and simultaneously see what the current demands of the organization will need and what the future can deliver then can plot a trajectory in which these meet to deliver meaningful solutions to the drug discovery and digital therapeutics pipeline.


*Major focus on identifying, building and establishing external partnerships. *Build a model of an "internal digital technology solutions company", leveraging Pfizer expertise to execute. *Leverage external funds and expertise to create an externalized Pfizer Neuroscience portfolio. *Lead and coordinate due diligence activities on external assets, technologies and partnerships. *Critical interface with Business development and other Pfizer lines engaged with investment strategies. *Secure external funding to support the programs of work. *Advance and deliver on digital innovation projects. *Deliver new platform technologies, digital capabilities and analytic approaches to the PfIRe lab. *Ensure portfolio enhancement through prosecuting on tractable projects that "follow the science".*Help establish strategic direction, including vision, mission, strategies and interdependencies with other Pfizer units and the external environment.*Develop strong strategic and complementary linkages to other Pfizer units such as clinical and each business unit. *Help establish effective collaborations with academic institutions, technology companies and patient groups *Establish a clear strategy for the delivery of portfolio excellence through strong project leadership and advocacy *Promotes innovation and takes appropriate risks to challenge the status quo, resulting in enhanced processes; takes appropriate risks to develop innovative ideas/ processes/products.*Build a strategic approach to engaging the external environment to maintain awareness of emerging opportunities including the application of crowd-sourcing, hack-a-thons and participation in relevant trade groups.*Build and maintain programs to flexibly access external capabilities, including fellowship, post-doctoral, and sabbatical programs.


*BS/MS/ MBA in Business Strategy *BSc / PhD in Scientific Discipline *Competency in leadership skills *Understands pharmaceutical Research and Development process. Specific knowledge of Pfizer's approach within WRD a plus. *Deep understanding and significant experience within a pharmaceutical/biotech business, ideally with some P&L responsibility *Track record of successfully working effectively in multidisciplinary teams. *Exceptional portfolio delivery experience *Experience leading project teams. *Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and complex, strategic conversations. *Exceptional strategic and entrepreneurial thinking coupled with strong organization skills. *Ability to interpret strategy and realize it in the portfolio. *Demonstrated success in negotiating the environment of a highly matrix-based organization *Able to adapt an organization based on a dynamic resource landscape. *Experience working in a global and multicultural organization, including working across national and international boundaries and Biotech vs Big Pharma*Experience in budgetary management and fiscal awareness *Excellent communication skills
