Position Description

UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual, part of the UnitedHealth Group family of companies, is looking for an experienced Health Analytics Consultant to join our dynamic team serving the Dallas Metro area.
 
The Health Analytics Consultant provides consistent, effective, high-quality analytical and consultative support to UHC customers and the Account Management team to position UnitedHealthcare as a trusted advisor to its customers. This individual contributor role serves as a strategic consultant, providing an analysis of utilization and healthcare cost data, assessment of the impact of solutions on health plan performance, including medical and pharmacy plan trend, identifying trend drivers and mitigators and explanation of the plan’s variance from normative benchmarks. The individual in this role must the consultative findings to identify and recommend to customers opportunities to lower risk, and improve the health and wellbeing of members, resulting in improved quality of care and outcomes, and ultimately, medical cost improvement. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing and interpreting various forms of utilization and healthcare data to identify potential areas for medical cost improvements via products, services and other market trends including ROI projections
  • Creating a clear, compelling assessment of root causes and actionable / non-actionable contributing factors
  • Participating in customer meetings as subject matter expert to present findings and recommendations to customers
  • Quantifying value generated by historically implemented solutions
  • Negotiating complex situations and sensitive situations with a win-win attitude
  • Communicates information openly and in an articulate and professional manner
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to internal and external customers on healthcare cost and quality topics
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience in managed care
  • 2+ years of experience with data analysis, interpretation, synthesis
  • 2+ years of presentation experience conveying results and recommendations to internal / external customers
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of medical and pharmacy cost drivers and experience recommending medical cost improvement strategies and solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise
