The HIM Operations Analyst provides day to day support to acquire, manage, and analyze hospital data. Performs medical record documentation and EMR audits. Identifies trends and patterns from data and audits to streamline systems and processes for HIM end users and to support proper development and compliance of the electronic medical record content. Assists Corporate HIM leadership to complete projects, improve HIM work flow, and respond to hospital HIM staff. Assists in training and education using key findings from these activities. Provides on-site HIM support during project implementations, including, but not limited to EMR, computer assisted coding, clinical documentation systems, forms management and release of information systems.

Job Requirements

Associates degree with 3 -5 years required. RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) eligible, new graduate from a bachelors program or an RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist), with HIM acute care hospital experience.

  • Proficient in current AHIMA Best Practices, current healthcare government regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines, as related to all current healthcare HIM specific areas.
  • Knowledge and experience using EMRs (Cerner preferred) and other HIM related applications, 3M Coding system and Computer Assisted Coding, CDI, Forms on Demand, and Release of Information. Additionally, demonstrate basic proficiency in presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, including English writing and speaking and presentation skills sufficient to allow effective positive communications with all levels of personnel within the organization. 
  • Travel 25%.
