Havenwyck Hospital is a 243 bed, Joint Commission accredited and licensed psychiatric and substance abuse facility. We specializing in providing behavioral health and substance abuse treatment and are located in Auburn Hills overlooking Lake Galloway. 

Havenwyck Hospital provides a continuum of individualized treatment to children, adolescents and adults needing psychiatric and/or substance abuse treatment. Havenwyck strives to create a customized treatment plan for each individual based on level of maturity, life experiences, needs and other factors. Patients at Havenwyck are treated by a qualified multi-disciplinary team, including, but not limited to, a psychiatrist, registered nurses, social workers and recreational therapists, in a warm, supportive environment. Havenwyck Hospital's Residential Treatment Center is a secure treatment program for children and adolescents ages 8 to 17, with emotional and/or behavioral impairments that require them to be in a secure, 24-hour supervised therapeutic living situation. Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented  House Supervisor to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals.
The House Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of the nursing staff. The House Supervisor has working knowledge of hospital and nursing policies, procedures and community resources. The House Supervisor is responsible for initiating disciplinary action in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager. The ideal candidate has previous management experience and experience working with a multidisciplinary team.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Uses the nursing process to ensure appropriate delivery of nursing care.
  • Has a working knowledge of the Hospital's administrative policies and procedures.
  • Has a working knowledge of the nursing services policies and procedures.
  • Adjusts staffing as needed to ensure proper coverage according to designated staff/patient ratios in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager.
  • Responsible for replacement of staff who are scheduled but unable to work.
  • Reports and informs appropriate administrators of any issues that require follow-up.
  • Monitors and evaluates nursing care given, makes rounds throughout the hospital.
  • Provides supervision to staff nurses and psychiatric care specialists, including disciplinary action.
  • Participates with the Nurse Unit Manager and other nursing managers in the development of therapeutic programs for the unit.
  • Serves as a role model for quality nursing care.
  • Participates in orientation program for new employees and in-service education for employees when needed.
  • Ensures auditing charts for completion, quality and meeting of standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all admissions during shift are handled appropriately, following the admission policies and procedures.
  • Reviews intake information as needed and collaborates with the Intake Referral Coordinator to ensure a timely referral process.
  • Directs activities in all emergency situations, according to procedures.
  • Participates in the evaluation/competency process for the staff in collaboration with Nurse Unit Manager.
  • Assists  with performance improvement activities as required.
  • Ensures that patients and families are oriented to the hospital and the unit, deals with family members in a professional, caring manner.
  • Investigates unusual incidents/complaints from patients and reports to CNO.

 

 

Job Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
  • Three to five years of behavioral health experience.
  • One to two years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Current BLS and CPI certifications, proficient in Noc-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Employee must be in good standing (evaluation/employment history, corrective action, etc.) to be considered for internal transfer.
