Job Requirements

The House/Shift Supervisor is responsible for the overall functioning of the hospital during after hours and weekend operations. They must assign appropriate numbers and mix of staff as guided by the staffing plan based on census and patient acuity. They are responsible for direction and supervising staff in all clinical and administrative matters, ensuring that accreditation standards, practice standards, and policies and procedures are followed and maintained. Additionally, they may be required to interact with other department staff or the administrator or call to handle urgent “non-nursing” issues that arise during after hours and weekend operations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrates competence in the human stages of growth and development.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must be a current licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky. Experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred. 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in many different situations. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken and written word.
