Job Description

House Supervisor (RN) Position Summary

House Supervisor (RN) is responsible for direction of patient care in the behavioral health care setting.  Achieves cooperation, teamwork and high morale between departments and staff by maintaining a positive, attentive and interactive manner.  Responds to staff, visitors, patients and physician’s question in a timely manner.  Consults with staff, physicians, administration and Nurse Executive on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are met. House Supervisor (RN) intervenes in conflict situations while showing support, trust and respect to all concerned while maintaining confidentiality 100% of the time.  Provides nursing leadership and care through physical and mental assessments, laboratory testing, treatment plans and therapeutic treatments.  Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral.  Performs crisis intervention.  Maintains performance improvement activities within the development and participates in CQI activities.  Maintains costs and appropriate staffing ratios.  Completes employee health screenings upon hire and annually.

House Supervisor (RN) schedule is three shifts per week 8:00pm - 8:00am to include weekends.  This is a salaried; exempt position.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

One (1) year experience in the nursing field and experience in mental health is strongly preferred.

License/Certification:

Current North Carolina or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Physical Requirements:

Physical agility to manage patients.  Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.  Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 dB loss @ Hz, and 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.  Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.  Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients on the unit and in therapeutic activities.  While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.

Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.  Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
