Millwood Hospital, located in Arlington, Texas, is a 128-bed facility that provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency care. Millwood Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented  RN House Supervisor. The House Supervisor assumes responsibility for complete facility operations during the assigned shift.  This includes supervising nursing and clinical staff, ensuring that patient care is provided in an accurate and timely manner.  This position has responsibility for the supervision of care of patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities include:

 1.     Assume responsibility for the complete facility operations during the assigned shift.

 2.     Supervise all activities of the nursing staffon the assigned shift.

 3.     Assist ADON and DON in evaluation of the staff’s performance.

 4.     Accept responsibility in the absence of the ADON or DON.

 5.     Assist the unit manager in implementing facility policies and procedures.

 6.     Assist the Director of Nursing in assessing, reviewing and implementing Performance Improvement.

 7.     Evaluate patients/milieu acuity each shift, report high acuity to Director of Nursing.

 8.     Assign staff according to acuity and budgetary guidelines.

 9.     Assume overall responsibility for the provision of patient care services.

Patient Care Standards

1.      Ensure that a system is developed to provide continuity of care and communication with patients.

2.      Evaluate accomplishments at the end of the shift to ensure program goals and objectives are met.

3.      Maintain a current awareness of the care of age specific patients (adolescent, adult and geriatrics, and care of chemically dependent patients).

5.      Ensure programs adhere to specific Standards of Care of Child Patients ages 5 through 11.

6.      Ensure programs adhere to specific Standards of Care of Adolescent Patients ages 12 through 18.

7.      Ensure programs adhere to specific Standards of Care of Chemical Dependency Patients.

8.      Ensure programs adhere to specific Standards of Care of Adult Patients ages 19 through 64.

9.      Ensure programs adhere to specific Standards of Care of Geriatrics Patients age 65 and older.


Job Requirements


Education: Bachelors Degree from an accredited program in professional nursing is preferred; or equivalent combination of related education and experience is required.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience in an acute hospital setting; preferably in a psychiatric facility.  Supervisory/managerial experience preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and training in appropriate use of seclusion and restraints(CPI) prior to on the unit orientation; must pass a medication administration exam
