POSITION SUMMARY: The House Supervisor, under the supervision of the Unit Director, supports the clinical activities and special projects of the department; and in collaboration with the Charge Nurse coordinates the off-hour operations of nursing. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.  Maintains professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources, as needed. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees. The House Supervisor will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. The House Supervisor will comply with appropriate and approved standards, as outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies. The House Supervisor will comply with safety and injury prevention standards to minimize risk to self, co-workers, patients, and visitors.   The concepts of the patient centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.

Job Requirements

The Charge Nurse (CN) functions under the supervision of the Supervisor – Medical / Surgical Services. The CN assures provision of care to an assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. The CN is responsible for management of staff, physicians, and patients for a designated unit. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

1.   Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program. BSN required, or must be enrolled and complete within 2 years.

2.   Must have current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment.

3.   Current Handle With Care certification
