Position Summary:
Laurel Heights Hospital is an intensive psychiatric residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. We are seeking a full-time HOUSEKEEPER with 1-3 years of experience. Candidate MUST: ● be to work 8:00-4:30pm and EVERY OTHER WEEKEND. ● demonstrate correct procedures and sufficient gross and fine motor skills in sweeping and mopping hard surfaces, in carpet spot-cleaning, and in vacuuming and shampooing carpeted surfaces ● carry out assignments in a timely manner ● clean areas thoroughly, create minimal need for repeating of tasks ● use proper materials and equipment for tasks ● operate equipment correctly ● remove trash and waste promptly and according to schedule ● use proper disposal procedures, ensuring safe and sanitary conditions ● uses supplies and materials correctly ● remove linen promptly and in accordance with schedule ● promptly placed soiled linens in correct storage area for laundering ● dust furniture regularly, following schedule ● clean windows and window coverings as necessary or as assigned ● consistently keeps bathrooms, including tiles, toilets, fixtures, floor, and wall surfaces clean ● consistently keeps toilet paper and paper towels replenished ● regularly assists unit staff in keep galley area clean and adequately supplied ● promptly reports hazardous conditions to supervisor ● follows protocols for storing supplies, materials, and equipment ● demonstrate correct responses to emergency codes ● properly put away cleaning material from patient reach ● respond correctly and courteously to questions and follows up promptly ● demonstrate understanding of how the Housekeeping position supports the goals of the department and mission of the organization, including how it supports other departments and processes within the organization ● demonstrate willingness to accept changes in job responsibilities, department assignments, work schedules or routines ● maintain confidentiality ● work cooperatively with other departments in meeting the needs of the children and families ● maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for the children. Requirements
1-3 years of housekeeping experience. Elementary reading, writing and math skills; basic English usage; courtesy; neatness; adherence to instructions and deadlines; knowledge of, and skills in applying, basic cleaning and housekeeping procedures and methods; institutional experience desired. Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions.
