Position Summary:

The HR Generalist is the back-up to the Director of Human Resources and will possess knowledge in all areas of human resources including, but not limited to: wage and hour law, legal compliance, OSHA, workers compensation, the Joint Commission HR standards, FMLA, UHS policies/procedures, DHL policies, procedures, employee benefits, etc. The HR Generalist oversees day to day operations related to application screening, testing, new employee orientation, benefits administration, certification tracking, lawson reports, policy interpretation, etc.

1. Responsible for screening and testing non RN and non management applicants. This may include completing new hire processing as necessary. Will attend most job/career fairs.
2. Responsible for tracking all Licenses/Certifications and FMLA/LOA (reporting, communication with managers, payroll & employees, coordination with workers comp, etc.).
3. Coordinates the facility benefits program to include insurances, 401(k), stock plan, service/employee awards celebrations, tuition reimbursement program, open enrollment, supplemental bills, etc.
4. Serves as a lead worker to department personnel and oversees/assists with data entry into Lawson, preparation of reports/analyses, etc.
5. Responsible for coordinating the facility New Employee Orientation program.
6. Assists director with writing/implementation/interpretation/updating of policies/procedures.
7. Provides information & assistance to senior management, department heads & employees regarding various HR rules, regulations & procedures & ensures department is in compliance.
8. Conducts routine audits on files to include: licensure, certifications, education verification, background checks, competencies, evaluations, etc.
9. Assist Director of HR with updating job descriptions, competency formatting and educational offerings.
10. Other duties as assigned.

 
Requirements
Five (5) years progressively responsible experience performing human resources functions preferred, two (2) years minimum required.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Personnel Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field required.
Knowledgeable of EEO laws governing general human resources & concepts to include benefits, records mgmt, wage & hour, labor relations & compensation.
Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills.
Ability to use computer hardware, various software programs and technology, including word processing & spreadsheet programs.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
