Sodexo is seeking a Human Resources Manager 2 for Sodexo at Gonzaga University – a longstanding, high profile university account in Spokane, WA.  Gonzaga University is a Gem of the Northwest. Sodexo is proud to align with the Gonzaga University mission and is proud of the Diverse and Talented Team that we operate with every day.  This Human Resources Manager will provide on-site support to General Managers and unit managers  and will manage all HR issues in regards to front-line employees including: recruitment, selection, on-boarding and training, employee relations, payroll, compensation and benefits administration questions and concerns, Employee Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, etc.


This is a fast-paced, high volume HR environment with heavy emphasis on hiring and retaining high quality front-line employees. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provides HR counsel on business initiatives
  • Oversees programs and ensures compliance with Sodexo policies and procedures and Federal, State, and Local laws regarding human resources.
  • Manages and administer HR programs, including Employee Engagement, Safety, Training, Safe Environments, Diversity and Inclusion, etc.
  • Maintains records and reports necessary to comply with Company, government, and accrediting agency standards, regulations, and codes
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with operators.
  • Counsels managers and employees regarding the impact of labor and regulatory laws (e.g., FMLA, EEO, ADA).
  • Provides coaching and mentoring that includes developmental plans, training, resources, and opportunities.
  • Builds and develops a robust candidate pool through recruitment and succession planning.
  • Ensures compliance with diversity and inclusion metrics and scorecards.

The best qualified candidate will have the following:

  • 2 -5 years of HR experience in all Human Resource functions including benefits, worker’s compensation, recruiting, FMLA, payroll, strong understanding of Labor Law –
  • Previous human resource experience in a multi-unit or system environment is desired a - In a high volume complex environment (over 300 employees)
  • Ability to present to large groups at all levels, as well as interact effectively in a one-on-one setting. 
  • Generalist HR knowledge with experience working with: talent development and organization design, reward, change and performance management, ER, employee engagement, and mobilization support
  • Employee training experience, Safety, promoting a safe workplace, diversity and inclusion
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • minimum of Associates Degree or HR related Certifications

Position Summary

Functions as the leader for multiple core services, in a single account and/or multiple locations within the same contract. Single point of contact and/or client liaison in support of business that in total is greater than $10 million in managed volume
Key Duties
-  Monitors operations by planned and unplanned visits to each operating account of the system to plan projects, implement new processes, client interactions, and new technology to ensure sufficient resources.

- Develops business plan and budget w/each account GM that supports the System and District goals – Reviews and analyzes financial statements and data and other financial information to ensure attainment of financial goals for both the client and Sodexo.

- Central Point of Contact for Client Liaison promoting a solid business partnership - assists in contract negotiations for the system.

-  Maintains Quality & Company Standards – reviews and maintains reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Sodexo / System Client(s) policies and procedures.

-  Responsible for system succession planning/employee development/diversity initiatives/training/constructive counseling. Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives.

-  Provides strategic leadership to the respective units within the system to maintain client satisfaction and retention

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience – 1 year of HR experience
