The Hyperbaric Techprovides care to assigned patients, according to established plan of care and as competency documentation designates, under the direct supervision of the Change Nurse/Team Leader and/or Attending Physician. Supervises Hyperbaric Facility operations regarding equipment, patient, personnel and procedural safety, as required by NFPA 99, section 20. Has the authority to recommend approval, denial, or alteration of patient treatment with regards to established patient safety guidelines, in consultation with the Hyperbaric Medical/Technical Director and/or Attending Physician. May serve as the Hyperbaric Department Safety Officer.

Job Requirements
  • Education/Qualification
    • High School diploma
    • 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience as an emergency room technician or 1 year experience as a critical care technician, which provided an advanced knowledge of patient care activates such as IV insertion, phlebotomy and performing EKGs required - OR - Successful completion of approved college level emergency room technician course including IV insertion, phlebotomy, and EKG required.
    • Certification as a Paramedic preferred
    • Completion of UHMS approved Clinical Hyperbaric Technologist class
    • Current Certification of Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals (BLS)

  • Skills
    • Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity
    • Able to speak and write English Fluently
    • Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills
    • Knowledge of medical terminology
