Havenwyck Hospital is a 243 bed, Joint Commission accredited and licensed psychiatric and substance abuse facility overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing behavioral health and substance abuse services to children, adolescents, and adults.Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Infection Control Preventionist to join our team of compassionate and dedicated clinical professionals. 


The Infection Control Preventionist initiates and implements Infection Control Standards throughout the hospital and has input into the scope of the Employee Health Program. Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Working under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, he/she will implement an effective Infection Control Program
  • Acts as a liaison between the Infection Control Committee and all other departments in the Hospital.
  • Creates yearly infection control plan for the hospital analyzing progress towards goals and identifying new potential areas of risk. 
  • Conducts infection control rounds and maintains PPE equipment as instructed. 
  • Conducts orientation and in-service education programs for personnel on prevention and control of infections.
  • Prepares a monthly report of statistical data for the Infection Control Committee and distributes to the Chief Nursing Officer and Executive and Medical Staff Committees.
  • Reports to the County Health Department any reportable diseases, and works with the Health Department in complying with any problems related to the outbreak and control of communicable diseases.
  • Makes rounds to patient care units and assists where appropriate in resolving problems and concerns.
  • Participates in the formulation and revision of hospital policies and/or procedures dealing with infection control.
  • Exercises authority in putting into action such control measures as isolation and corrective actions when any severe breaks in technique occur which require prompt remedial action.
  • Acts as a consultant to nursing and medical staff concerning Infection Control of Employee Health matters.
  • Performs Performance Improvement Functions for the Infection Control Program.  Reports Performance Improvement activities to the PI Coordinator and to the Hospital wide PIC.
  • Prepares the agenda for and participates in all Infection Control Committee meetings.
  • Participates in assigned committees.
  • Attends hospital mandatory training/in-services as required.
  • Follows hospital expectations regarding Time and Attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


A $4,000.00 sign on bonus available for qualified newly hired candidates. A 24-month commitment is required.

Job Requirements


  • Associate degree from an accredited School of Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current and valid nursing license in the State of Michigan required.
  • Additional educational preparation is desirable in the areas of Epidemiology.
  • Certification as a BLS CPR instructor preferred.
  • A minimum of four years medical-surgical nursing experience preferred. One year experience in Infection Control is desirable, but not essential.
  • Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
