Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hire all staff for this new location, direct and supervise all pharmacy staff (5 - 10 Pharmacists, Techs) and activities including drug preparation, sterile product preparation, dispensing and clinical pharmacy services
  • Works closely with other members of the management team (Manager: Intake, Nursing, Med Records / Facilities) to ensure customer service excellence and constant focus on quality improvement
  • Ensures all pharmacy operations, practices and procedures meet all licensing and standards requirements established by local, state and federal agencies as well as accrediting bodies (e.g. TJC, URAC)
  • Oversees the procurement of drugs, supplies and equipment used in preparing and administering drugs
  • Ensures compliance with all controlled substances related rules, regulations and Company policies in coordination with other departments and staff
  • Provides input in the preparation of the budget and develops policies and procedures and assures compliance thereof
  • Functioning as the Branch PIC, must be aligned with corporate legal department to ensure branch pharmacy licensures all remain in good standing
  • Work with other management / leaders regarding all handling of complaints and grievance     
  • Collaborates as needed in supporting the Sales team as clinical pharmacy Subject Matter Expert     
  • Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy and intravenous therapy by reviewing the literature and attending in - services, seminars and conferences


Required Qualifications:

  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm D     

  • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in TX

  • Must possess both verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a clinical pharmacy - i.e. health care system / hospital 

  • 3+ years managing pharmacy including leading staff and operations

  • Experience with managing staff including hiring, developing / motivating and directing     

  • 3+ years IV or Home infusion experience required

  • Exceptional organizational, time - management skills working toward hard deadlines     

  • Working knowledge of processes related to sterile compounding to meet regulatory compliance requirements (USP 797 / USP 800 guidelines)

  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving and interpersonal skills effective with multiple levels / professional disciplines as well as patients, families, staff and physicians

  • Strong analytical skills (calculations, budgets, data reports)
