Description The Maintenance Tech III performs maintenance, PM troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of production, process, and utility equipment and associated instrumentation. This person assures proper operation, accuracy, and documentation of equipment and instrumentation to meet product, process, and regulatory requirements.

• Read PID and process diagrams; as well as, analog loop, instrumentation, and electronic circuit diagrams.

• Troubleshoot and Repair plc based process controls, basic ac and dc electronic circuits, diagnose and remedy machine breakdowns in a prompt skillful manner, complex mechanical failures, setup and maintenance issues, and machine malfunctions due to abnormal input conditions or failed i/o.

• Use electrical testing equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, loop calibrators, and power supplies in a safe manner.

• Make useful recommendations regarding improved machine performance.

• Perform calibration of production and/or facility equipment without supervision.

• Implement design enhancements that increase reliability of machinery.

• Quickly isolate electrical faults and correct with minimal downtime.

• Prioritize equipment downtime issues.

• Coordinate maintenance and calibration activities so as to prevent downtime.

• Interface with production and management personnel in a diplomatic manner.

• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.


• Required: High School/GED and course work (or equivalent experience) in the general or specific areas of electromechanical technology. Knowledge of the general trades: i.e., construction, electrical, machine shop.

• Preferred: 1-2 years experience with an AS or Technical degree or certificate program -or- BS degree with no experience.

• Excellent communications skills using the English language.

• Ability to read, write, and develop preventative maintenance procedures, calibration procedures and work orders under supervision.

• Ac/dc electrical theory.

• Principles of HVAC and refrigeration.

• Methods of measurement (tool metrology as pertains to calibration of process and facilities equipment.

• Electrical power distribution equipment, including transformers, load centers, breakers, bus ducts, motor control centers (MCC) and lighting distribution.

• Pneumatic components (cylinders, air compressors, etc.) And general components (lines, valves etc.).

• Perform mathematical formulations as relates to problem solving and trouble shooting the proceeding components.

• Maintenance Tech III certification requires successful completion of an instrumentation skills test after 6 months on the job.

• Must be fit tested, maintain physical conditions, be able wear proper PPE/environmental gowning as required.

• Instruct other technicians in the intricacies of assigned machinery and equipment.

• Instruct the machine/process operators in proper operation of machinery.

• Ensuring adherence to all plant safety rules in area of responsibility.
