Southern Crescent Behavioral Health System is comprised of three (3) facilities: Anchor Hospital, Crescent Pines Hospital Campus, and the Riverdale Outpatient Campus. Providing a myriad of behavioral health services across the continuum from inpatient through outpatient treatment, we treat adolescent through geriatric patients. We are currently seeking energetic and dynamic applicants for the position of full-time Intake Counselor for Anchor Hospital.

The Intake Counselor assesses psychiatric and medical risks/needs of those who present for care; provision of treatment recommendation, immediate patient/client disposition, arranging hospital transfer/discharge, making outpatient referrals, and/or making connections to other community agencies and resources. The position also requires internal marketing, effective communication with physicians, efficient communication with referral sources, and overall excellent service to patients and other callers/visitors. Staff must be able to work at least one (1) weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday), as needed. Other responsibilities include being able to perform all aspects of the hospital’s assessment and referral process, including efficient and effective management of crisis calls and other telephone inquiries.

Patients who come to Anchor Hospital are in crisis, and the road to recovery for behavioral, mental health, and substance abuse patients is a difficult one. The staff at Anchor Hospital serves as compassionate guides who provide for our patients’ clinical needs.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

1. Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy is required OR License as a registered nurse

2. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

3. License/Certification: Associate Licensure (LAPC, LMSW, and LAMFT) or full licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred, OR Licensure as an RN in Georgia required.

4. Skills: Candidates must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written).  Candidates must also have working knowledge of DSM-5/ICD10, and working knowledge of 1013 process.

5. Physical Requirements: Moderate to low physical demands.  Requires extensive time sitting, writing, and talking on telephone.  Must be able to assist in physical crisis intervention when necessary.

6. Other: Performs others duties as may be assigned by Director or CEO
