Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Clinician for our Intake Department. This position: Screens potential admissions and determining an appropriate level of care to recommend to the physicians. Interfacing closely with the medical staff, co-workers and administration, nursing department, external case managers, managed care organizations, and also functions as a liaison with other hospital emergency rooms and departments. Conducts triage, screening and initial level of care evaluations for all consumer populations served, Children and Adolescents – Ages 5yrs – 17yrs; and adults presenting with mental health and substance abuse issues.


 Essential Job Duties:

Responsible for coordinating the screening, referral and admission process for inpatient and outpatient programs including:

  • Reviewing referral packets
  • Screenings/ Intakes and other needed interviews
  • Conducting the initial mental health assessment
  • Responsible for timely and complete documentation of mental health assessments, insurance authorizations and other pertinent written information. 
Job Requirements


Job Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Human Services field or Registered Nurse, Psychiatric Certification/Experience.
  • Prefer 3 years of assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population in an inpatient setting.
  • Missouri Clinical Social Work License (LCSW), LPC or LMFT strongly preferred or Registered Nurse as licensed by the Division of Professional Registration for State of Missouri.
  • Prefer knowledge of hospital admissions functions, leadership skills, crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
