Position Summary:

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 126-bed private, state of the art, psychiatric center located on seven beautiful acres in Orlando, Florida.  Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults, partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults.

The Intake Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of Central Florida Behavioral Hospital’s intake and admission process, including efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, knowledge of and communication with referral sources; providing hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals; making outside referrals, when appropriate; assessing and triaging an individual’s mental health status; making patient safety and level of care recommendations to the CFBH physician; identifying insurance benefits, pre-certification of patient care; completing all admission requirements; communicating patient safety concerns and pertinent patient information to unit nursing staff and documenting all necessary information in Med Series 4.


Qualified candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.   Prefer  three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric facility.  Experience working in Intake performing assessments preferred.  Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration.  Must be ccurrently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.  Must demonstrate leadership, communication, teaching and management skills.  Excellent communication skills required.  Ability to relate to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis.  The position  rrequires extensive time sitting, writing, and talking on telephone.  Must have the aability to assist in crisis intervention, physical intervention with out of control patients.  Medium demand, mentally.
