Roxbury Treatment Center is a private 112-bed sub-acute detoxification/rehabilitation and psychiatric center located at the foothills of the scenic Blue Mountains. In our 60-bed chemical dependency unit, detoxification is conducted under close medical supervision. This unit includes our Military Initiative Program designed to treat active military personnel dealt with chemical dependency and mental health issues.  The team of physicians and our around-the-clock nursing staff provide the needed assessment and care. The Recovery Program offers a professional approach to the treatment of chemical dependencies. Our treatment team includes Certified Addictions Counselors, Masters and Bachelors level clinicians, and nurses.

Roxbury also has an acute psychiatric unit treating individuals with mental illnesses who need short-term hospitalization. This program specializes in treating adult patients who are suffering from co-occurring disorders; mental illness and substance use/abuse issues. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program.

An acute psychiatric unit treating adolescents between the ages of 13 - 17 is currently in operation at Roxbury Treatment Center. Staffed with mental health techs and nurses around the clock, our Chief Medical Officer and psychiatrists oversee this cutting edge psychiatric treatment program helping teens deal with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.

Roxbury is currently recruiting a Per Diem Intake Counselor.

Job Summary:

The Intake Counselor provides telephonic and in-person assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description.  The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements of this position.  Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in assessment of a varied population including adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients, for inpatient and outpatient settings. The employee may be required to perform job related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Job Requirements

Education And Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Psychology or other related field OR licensed nurse with a minimum of one year experience in a behavioral healthcare environment required. Prior experience in behavioral healthcare / admissions preferred.

Licensure & Certification:     None mandatory

Knowledge:                

Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, chemical dependency and dual diagnosis symptom logy, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management. Ability to communicate verbally, telephonically, and in writing. Working knowledge of computer systems and different software. Time management and the ability to be a team player.

Physical Requirements:         

Must have physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen.
