As an Intern, Software Developer, you'll work with an extremely active team who evaluates upwards of 100 target companies every year. Assist in designing, developing and maintaining windows, web and web services based business software applications, systems, components and database objects using Microsoft .NET technologies based on requirements and specifications to support LHI's business operations. Work alongside Software Developers, Software Development Team Leads and Software Development Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in development of VB.NET, ASP.NET and SQL software programs and components per assigned tasks by team leads and other developers.
  • Assist in debugging, testing, and troubleshooting written software programs and components.
  • Participate in maintenance and support of LHI's software applications by assisting Help Desk Technicians, Business Analysts, and Developers in troubleshooting and resolving software problems.
  • Study training materials on .NET development, programming standards, application architecture, business processes, and functional areas of LHI's business applications.
  • Document and communicate design, troubleshooting, testing and application code to others on work team.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Availability to work a minimum of 3 days a week within the hours of Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Full-time student enrolled in final year of coursework pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain favorable adjudication following submission of Defense Health Agency eQuip Form SF86
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior software development experience with .NET technologies, experience with SQL database applications, and experience with n-tier application architectures in a professional environment
  • GPA of at least 3.0 preferred
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, relational database modeling concepts, Visual Studio, SQL Management Studio, Visual Source Safe, Team Foundation Server, VB.NET, .NET Framework, ASP.NET, and ADO.NET is preferred
  • National Career Readiness Certificate preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
As a requirement of UnitedHealth Group’s contract with the Department of Defense, this position requires U.S. citizenship and proof of favorable adjudication following submission of Department of Defense form SF86, (the National Agency Check or “NAC”).  Successful completion of the NAC process is a requirement for continued employment in this role.  NAC processing will be initiated by our TRICARE Security Officer post-offer, and can take 3-6 months for a final decision communication from the Department of Defense. Candidates will be allowed to begin employment with UnitedHealth Group in this role based on an interim clearance, and final results will be communicated as they are received.  Failure to obtain final NAC approval will result in termination from this role.
