The Internship Program & Recruitment Manager is a new role within the Human Resources Department at FHL whose primary responsibility will be to further develop, guide and foster the growth of our youth internship program. The intention of the internship program is to create access for native New Yorkers and community members to receive training and development at one of the most unique and dynamic public spaces and cultural destinations in the world. Additionally, the Internship Program & Recruitment Manager will be responsible for creating strategic partnerships and relationships within New York City with the goal of creating a diverse network of candidates for the organization as a whole


  • Develop and build relationships with high schools, colleges and universities to publicize and recruit for internships
  • Coach and mentor interns throughout the length of the program to ensure they have a productive and positive experience
  • Provide structure for the intern program and train and coach the intern managers
  • Manage, cultivate and remain point of contact for intern alumni
  • Partner with community engagement department to further network and build relationships within the local community to build pipeline of applicants within the neighborhood
  • Actively recruit for all open positions and optimize where positions are publicized
  • Assist with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce for the organization
  • Engage with other organizations and experts to learn about best practices in diversity & inclusion in hiring practices
  • Determine the appropriateness of introducing diversity initiatives and consider the unique needs of the organization
  • Develop metrics for measuring the effectiveness of diversity initiatives
  • Recommend and support the rollout of trainings for both the organization and individual staff members


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five years of related human resource experience and recruiting
  • Demonstrated success and experience working in culturally diverse settings
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred
  • Prior non-profit experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Excellent computer skills, including Google Suite, Word, and Excel
